LOOKING FOR GOSPEL LABORERS? DON’T FORGET THE UNIVERSITY!

Mark Blair

For the last decade I have had the privilege of pastoring an ordinary church with an extra-ordinary opportunity. Beijing International Christian Fellowship began about 40 years ago and now 20 congregations grow in our massive capital city. BICF is an interdenominational church with members from almost 100 nations, one of the largest international churches in the world. About 15 years ago the elders of BICF had the foresight to plant a church amidst the many universities in the northwest of the city ? BICF ZGC – Zhongguancun…[read more]

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN CHINA: Who Will Reach This Vast and Strategic Yet Invisible Group?

Phil Jones

Wearing her hijab, “Mounia” from Yemen heard the gospel and felt the love of God in our international church because of her Rwandan classmate’s invitation and her husband’s permission. Without Arabic or visa for Yemen, instead of flying to Sana’a, we walked two meters to welcome her. From a country with 0.03% evangelicals, could she take the gospel back home? ….[read more]

THE CALL FROM NEW ZEALAND TO MALAYSIA

Teng Yang Ten

“I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.” (Isaiah 49:6). This was an answered prayer concerning a call to lead ISM work in New Zealand as I was meditating by a lagoon where we live. The call took into consideration that my wife and I were international students there some 40 years ago….[read more]

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT MINISTRY IN ASIA PACIFIC

Terry McGrath and Victoria Sibley-Bentley

It is a privilege to be asked to comment on international student ministry in the Asia Pacific Region or, as many might say, international student mission. Amongst the many examples of mission available to us through the record of Scripture and the history of the church, there is a significant subset which stems from the movement of people across borders. Opportunities for the Gospel are in many ways enhanced when people move across borders….[read more]

ISM IN THE PHILIPPINES

Betsy Eyestone

“They talk to us because we’re light and look like Filipinos, but they hate the darks.” This is what I heard from a young woman of northeastern Indian descent who had attended the international student fellowship we were visiting in the “South Hub” of Metro Manila. Her statement was the answer to my question about whether they had been able to make friends among the Filipino students. Sadly, her answer reflects prejudice, or perhaps misunderstanding and fear, that persists among Filipinos toward people of dark skin….[read more]

STRATEGIC OPPORTUNITY TO REACH THE NATIONS OF THE WORLD IN PUNE, INDIA

Emmanuel F. Benjamin

When we think about the unreached people, we look at the locations on the map to see regions, nations, cities, villages that are many miles away from us. But the unreached people from many nations are very much present in the midst and within our neighbourhood. They are from nations where you and I face stiff resistance from people, authorities and rules that hinder us to share the message of Christ in their nations….[read more]

‘RE-TIRE’ TO CONTINUE TO RUN

Damples Dulcero-Baclagon

The second encounter with Dr. Park was when he became the Chairman of Asia Missions Association. I was asked to work with him for AMA. I worked with AMA under Dr. David J. Cho earlier, and when I heard Dr. Park is now the Chairman, I gladly accepted the challenge to work under his leadership. I believed his mission and vision are remarkable, his love and service for the Lord are genuine and his leadership is charismatic and God-centered….[read more]
